Windows offers a simple way to set a default web browser, email program, and other defaults.
First, type in "Set your default programs" into the Start menu Search Box (You can also find this via the Control Panel)
Now just select the program you like to use from the list, in this example Firefox, and then click Set this program as default.
If you want to customize these settings further, maybe to make Firefox the default for only certain file types, click Choose defaults for this program and you will be given more customization options.
