Microsoft Office 2007 Document Format Change

Microsoft Office 2007 uses a new default file format based on XML when saving new documents.  During the transition period when both version of Office are installed in the labs (or if you are using Office 2003 on your home computer), you will be able to open, edit, and save files from Office 2003 that are created by Office 2007. This is possible since the Microsoft Office 2007 File Format Converters have been installed in the labs.  If you have Office2003 on your home computer, you can download the Converters from this Microsoft Web Page.

With Office 2007, you can open, edit, and save an Office 2003 document and it retains its Office 2003 format.  Also, with Office 2007, you can save a new document in the Office 2003 format using the Save As command.  See Direction for more details .

Should you have any problems with the machines please first see if we have a solution listed in on our Known Problems section. If your problem is not listsed, please fill out the form here.
