How to Record Audio within Logic Express in CLC Labs
NOTE: These instructions explain how to configure the Audio MIDI settings in order to be able to record audio using Logic Express, Apple's audio manipulation application installed in CLC's Macintosh lab and technology podium computers. These instructions do not detail how to use the features of Logic Express.
Open a Finder window.
Select Applications.
Within the Utilities folder, double-click Audio MIDI Setup to open the setup dialogue box.

Audio MIDI Setup dialogue boxFrom the Audio menu, select Open Aggregate Device Editor. (Note: The term "aggregate device" refers to multiple devices, e.g., microphones, that operate together.)
In the Aggregate Device Editor dialogue box under the Aggregate Devices heading, you should see Logitech Microphone Aggregate, created by CLC for use in the labs. In the Structure area below this, select the Use check boxes for the following two items:
- AK5370 (In = 1; Out = 0)
- Built-in Audio (In = 2; Out = 2)

Aggregate Device EditorClick the Done button.
- In the System Settings area near the top of the Audio MIDI Setup dialogue box, make sure Built-in Audio is selected for Default Input, Default Output, and System Output.
NOTE: If the Logic Express application was open while you were following the steps above, you must close it, then relaunch it.
