We've been investigating and working very hard to isolate an issue where the Mac Lab, Kiosk or Podium computers won't allow any logins. This is a rare issue and not wide spread, but since we've received a few reports of it we wanted to post this information.
If you experience this issue please click the 'Restart' icon at the bottom of the Mac OS X login window, wait for the Mac to restart and then login.
We will continue to dig deep on this issue and follow up with another NewsFlash once we have any additional information.
For the 2014 Fall semester we are reviewing all currently installed Mac Lab applications and removing those that are outdated or have low usage rates. This review process is conducted every summer when upgrading applications and operating systems in all Mac lab locations.
Therefore, all software requests must be submitted by July 1, 2014 to ensure the software is available in time for the start of the 2014 Fall semester.
In order to improve the end user experience for CLM Windows Lab Machines, Classroom and Lab Computing has increased the roaming profile size from 60MB to 100MB. This should allow users more flexibility in using lab applications for classwork.
Chrome and Firefox bookmark files, stored in your roaming profile, are being backed up daily (around 3:30am) to your UDrive space in case you have to clear your roaming profile. You will see a V:\Backup\Bookmarks folder of you have such a backup. IE Favorites are redirected to your "Home Folder" which is PASS or UDrive, and won't disappear if a roaming profile is cleared.
A new version of "PSU Alerts" that will restore such a file should be out this week.
