Starting around 5:05 pm, the University home page, http://www.psu.edu, News site, http://news.psu.edu, and other sites hosted on the same infrastructure started to become slow to unresponsive and/or give out 503 Service Unavailable, "Page Could Not Be Loaded" errors. The operations team responsible is now investigating.

DNS Server f04s03 (128.118.141.32) to be moved to a new load balancer - May 10

On Wednesday, May 10, the DNS Server f04s03 (128.118.141.32) will be migrated to a new load balancer during the regularly scheduled maintenance window (5-7am). f04s03 may be unavailable for a few minutes while the migration takes place.

Scheduled Maintenance for Zoom

University Collaboration Suite (UCS) to be moved to a new load balancer - May 9

On Tuesday, May 9, University Collaboration Suite (UCS) will be migrated to a new load balancer during the regularly scheduled maintenance window (5-7am). UCS may be unavailable for a few minutes while the migration takes place.

During the outage period, UCS users will not be able to send or receive e-mail and/or calendar appointments. No messages will be lost as a result of the outage, and all queued messages will be sent once the migration has completed.

Zoom Services Upgrade - May 5, 2017

Recommended Vendor Fixes to IBIS/ISIS

On Friday, May 5th, 2017, Penn State IT will apply vendor recommended fixes to Integrated Business Information Systems (IBIS) and Integrated Student Information System (ISIS). During this maintenance period, there will be an outage of ACOM, BCOM, and CCOM. This will also impact the GI, FIT, CIDR, and WebIBIS, eISIS and eLion. It is anticipated that this work will be completed before the end of the maintenance window (7 a.m.).

Service may be affected during the Penn State IT maintenance window (5:00-7:00am) on Friday, May 5th, 2017.

Maintenance on Penn State VPNs including ISP to PSU, and the LIAS VPN

On Wednesday, May 10th from 6:00am to 6:20am, maintenance will be performed on the hardware supporting Penn State VPNs including ISP to PSU, and the LIAS VPN. The expected outage of the VPN connections is less than 5 minutes.

Student Rating of Teaching Effectiveness and Program Submission and Consultation System (DNETCON-SQL-P02) Failover Database Server Relocation to Tower Road

On Monday May 8th, the Student Rating of Teaching Effectiveness and the Program Submission and Consultation System (DNETCON-SQL-P02) failover database server will be unavailable due to extended maintenance activities. No production impact is anticipated. However, in the unlikely event of a severe issue with the primary database server, an extended outage would be required until the scheduled maintenance activity is completed, or the primary server can be recovered.

University Collaboration Suite (UCS) Software Upgrade - May 13

On Saturday, May 13, University Collaboration Suite (UCS) will undergo a software upgrade during the scheduled maintenance window from 5:00 a.m. to noon. An outage of approximately seven hours is expected while the software is updated.

During the outage period, UCS users will not be able to send or receive e-mail and/or calendar appointments. No messages will be lost as a result of the outage, and all queued messages will be sent once the upgrade has been completed.

The upgrade addresses the following bug fixes and feature enhancements:
The quota usage bar in the upper right of the web client will be larger and more visible.
The "Add to Filter" feature when right clicking an address will be available once again.
The QuickAdd location using GAL autocomplete bug will be fixed.
Users will be warned if creating an event in the past.
Minor printing issues for IE/Firefox will be corrected.
Weekly recurring meetings will be synced in Outlook 2016.
Caldav sync errors on latest Mac versions will be fixed.

Redirect Tool in Canvas currently unavailable

A recent patch by Instructure is preventing faculty from accessing the Apps tab in the Canvas course settings. As a result, faculty are unable to use the redirect tool to add or edit external links within their courses. Instructure is aware of this issue and is currently testing a solution that is planned to be released on May 12.

Until this solution is available, faculty who have redirect URLs that need to be added or edited can email the course information and requested links to lmssupport@psu.edu.

World Campus faculty should fill out the World Campus and Continuing Education HelpDesk Email Form at http://student.worldcampus.psu.edu/content/technical-support-email-form and include a link to the course and the redirect URLs to be added or edited.

Pattee Library: Wireless and VoIP service outage

On Thursday, 5-11-17, during the standard ENCS maintenance window, there will be a brief Wireless and VoIP service disruption at Pattee Library while network hardware that supports these services is moved to a different power source. Update: dirapps.aset.psu.edu outage

As of ~10:30AM, connections to ldaps://dirapps.aset.psu.edu are responding normally and all dependent services appear to be functioning normally again.

WebAccess Slowness

WebAccess is currently experiencing slowness that may result in longer page loading times. ITS is aware of the issue and is investigating the cause and a resolution.

Penn State Behrend Voice Service Migration

Beginning Monday, May 8, 2017 through Thursday June 1, 2017. OVPIT will be migrating Penn State Behrend Campus voice services from their existing Avaya PBX solution to Cisco Unified Communications Manager. As part of this four week migration, inbound and outbound voice call services will be periodically interrupted.

Service may be affected starting on May 8, 2017 starting at 8:00AM. The estimated time of resolution is June 1, 2017 at 11:00PM.
