PASS services configuration changes

On Tuesday, April 4th, 2017, during the regularly scheduled maintenance window (5:00-7:00 a.m.), Penn State IT will apply vendor recommended configuration changes to software used by PASS. There should be no loss of service during this maintenance.

It is anticipated that this work will be completed before the end of the maintenance window (7 a.m.).

The Service Now Change Request number for this is: CHG0041368 and is in response to PRB0040337.

Canvas chat to be unavailable beginning on March 31

On Friday, March 31, Instructure will be performing updates to the Chat tool in Canvas that will take place over a scheduled maintenance window resulting in Chat being unavailable to users for up to 24 hours. All other features of Canvas will still be operational during this time. Instructure has not yet set an exact time for when this update will start, but it will be done overnight when fewer people are likely to be attempting to access the Chat tool. This alert will be updated when more information on start time is available.

The Chat tool has been modified as a Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) tool to allow for functionality enhancements including updates for the interface, chat management, and chat history. The migration of chat history from the existing Chat tool to the new one will take place during the updates on March 31.

IBIS and ISIS Maintenance - March 31, 2017

On Friday, March 31, 2017, Penn State IT will apply vendor recommended fixes to Integrated Business Information Systems (IBIS) and Integrated Student Information System (ISIS). During this maintenance period, there will be a brief outage of ACOM, BCOM, and CCOM. This will also impact the GI, FIT, CIDR, and WebIBIS, eISIS and eLion. It is anticipated that this work will be completed before the end of the maintenance window (7 a.m.).

Service may be affected during the Penn State IT maintenance window (5:00-7:00am) on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Brief wireless disruption at UP

VoIP Analog Service

ONEForest Provisioning/De-provisioning

During the maintenance window on Wednesday, March 29th, Penn State IT staff will upgrade ONEForest's provisioning process to include the de-provisioning process as well as other minor enhancements. There is no planned outage period during the upgrade.

This change could impact systems that use the ONEForest Active Directory for authentication, specifically:

ENCS service migration.

Beginning Monday April 3rd and continuing through April 14th ENCS and Datacenters staff relocate equipment and services. Work will begin at 4:00 AM and conclude by 7:00 AM each day. Measures are being taken to minimize the impact of affected services during this timeframe. This work is being tracked under CHG0040544.
The physical moves are planned on Monday April 3rd and Wednesday April 5th. During the hours mentioned above, there may be brief interruptions in the following:

ENCS service migration.

ENCS is migrating network support applications and services to Datacenter managed facilities. In preparation for this work, ENCS staff will be performing a supporting network reconfiguration beginning Monday March 27 at 6:00 AM and concluding by 7:00AM. This will cause a brief outage to the offerings listed below. This work is being tracked under CHG0041061

otc2.psu.edu (128.118.25.3) -- Caching DNS Server, clients with multiple DNS servers will continue to function, but at a slower rate.
clock.psu.edu – NTP clients will continue to function normally.

Research Network: Scheduled Maintenance

At 8 AM Friday morning, March 24th, Enterprise Networking and Communication Services will move a Research Network aggregate redundant switch from USB2 to Tower Road as part of the Critical Services Migration project. During the move there is no expected outage, however, there will be limited resiliency of the Research Network. This work can be tracked in CHG0040810. Work is expected to be completed by noon.

ActiveMQ Database Replication Fix

ActiveMQ Database Server OS Updates

ANGEL to be unavailable from 5 a.m. - 6 a.m. ET on Wednesday, 3/29

Penn State Information Technology will be installing Microsoft Windows system updates (patching) on Wednesday, 3/29 from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. ET that will require ANGEL to be unavailable during this time. Once patching has been completed, users will again be able to access ANGEL.

Central Person Registry Database Update
