On Wednesday 11/29/17 Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations will upgrade a nexenta storage system to the vendor recommended code version.
There should not be an outage, because the connected servers are configured to tolerate this upgrade.
This will take place during the 5:00AM through 7:00AM maintenance window.

Web Authentication Work

We don't expect any problems. However, there may be slow logins to those websites protected by Shibboleth during that time.

authsmtp.psu.edu degraded service

On November 25, 2017, authsmtp.psu.edu was blocked by live.com/hotmail.com because of a misbehaving client. At this time, Microsoft Offce 365 hosted domains do not appear to be blocking authsmtp.psu.edu. Clients such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, IOS Mail, Android Mail, and others that use authsmtp.psu.edu for sending email may receive an error when sending to those domains.

LionPATH back online after upgrade; end users must clear browser cache

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, LionPATH and its mobile app underwent a software upgrade. This upgrade was required to maintain support from the vendor.

Upon first logging in to LionPATH, users will need to clear their cache for each browser.

Those who do not clear their cache could experience various issues such as pages not loading correctly, broken buttons, or parts of the site not working properly. Please visit https://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache for instructions on how to clear your browser's cache.

The functionality of LionPATH is the same. However, there are minimal visual changes as a result of this software upgrade.

In the Classic view, the Search results display differently than before and the Preferences screen has a more modern look and feel.

In the Student view, the only change appears on the My Preferences screen which is reached from the sidebar menu. Once on the Preference screen, there is no longer a sidebar menu in the header and it has a more modern look and feel.

Labs Remote Printing Changes

On Friday, December 22, 2017, Penn State IT will remove download access to the Pharos Remote Printing software, which was previously used to allow lab printing from non-lab computers.

Existing installations of the Pharos Remote Printing software will continue to function through the conclusion of the Spring 2018 semester, at which time the Pharos Remote Printing service (http://clc.its.psu.edu/printing/remote) will expire.

MobilePrint (http://clc.its.psu.edu/printing/mobileprint), which replaces the Pharos Remote Printing software, enables cloud-based lab printing from non-lab devices, including phones, tablets, and personal computers, without the need to install additional software.

Service was restored at 10:41 a.m. Approximately 23 % of the users did not have access to their email. No email was lost. We are continuing to look into the issue.

Resolved: Directory Updates Failing on work.psu.edu

On https://www.work.psu.edu/ the link "Add/Change Other Directory Information" is failing with the error message "There was an error connecting to the server or your entry was not found. Please try again later."

This error is preventing users from updating "Other" directory information in LDAP. Using the directory to look up information is functioning normally.

IT Staff are working to resolve this issue.

LionPATH Outage Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, LionPATH and its mobile app will be offline from noon Friday, November 24 through approximately noon Sunday, November 26 for a software upgrade. Anyone who uses Yammer will have problems using the system at this time.
