PSU TeamSpot Introduction
Penn State Teaching and Learning with Technology has purchased TeamSpot 3.0 software from Tidebreak, Inc. and has setup a TeamSpot in Boucke220 Learning Center.
TeamSpot is a host/client Collaboration software package. A large public display is utilized to edit group document from the clients. A team of 2-5 members can share data effectively in this configuration. TeamSpot allows group members to move files within the group, work on the public screen, and copy and paste document segments to the host. In addition, clients are able to show or share their screen on the public display.
For each TeamSpot, TLT provides a TeamSpot host computer with a large display and a number of client computers with the TeamSpot client installed. In addition, students are able to download the client software from the host onto their laptop (PC or Macs), and execute the client from their laptops in the TeamSpot location.
The first PSU TeamSpot is installed in Boucke220 Learning Center and has been setup in partnership with the University Learning Centers. A Dell model 620 has been configured as the TeamSpot host and four other XP computers have been set up as clients. A Dell W3705MH LCD TV has been installed in the room as the public display and a public access point is available to wireless connections.
