Firewire Cameras in the Labs

On all of our machines on campus we have a wide array of software for editing multimedia documents and presentations. All of our scanning/multimedia workstations have firewire capabilities for use with these documents.

A machine with firewire capabilites will have a cable coming from the back of the computer with the following connector for you to plug in an 8-pin firewire cable.

On your camera there should be a port that says Firewire, IEEE1394 or has the Firewire logo on it. Connect the cable from this connector to the cable coming from the back of the machine.

 

Windows XP should then display the similar prompts in the following order:

The device that you have attached via firewire can now be accessed like any other device you may hook up to the computer.
