Introduction

The Classroom Setup program to provides a mechanism for lecturers to control Windows XP student machines in our teaching labs (classrooms with computers at each desk).  From the podium computer, the instructor may:

This program replaces the web-based Classroom Control system, Fall, 2004.  For those familiar with that, here is a overview of the differences.

Availability

The service is available in all CLC teaching labs via the podium Windows XP computer. 

Please report any errors in the room maps to the HotLine.

Getting Started

It is advisable to experiment with this system before using it in class.  You can log onto one or more student machines yourself, then log onto the podium Windows computer to try it.

Strategies

Some suggestions for use:

  1. Before locking computers, explain to your students what you are doing and why, so they don't resent it (e.g., the computer and the Internet are very attractive and fun, so it is understandably difficult to pay attention to me, etc.)
